Weird, I have done several games where I was in alliance with half the players on the map. Playing around diplomacy still has one major interest though- you can avoid getting attacked in the early/mid game and get more time to grow your economy and your military power.īut focusing only on Diplomacy (by sacrificing a part of your economy for example through Tributes) and be some kind of "Conspirator" trying to pit players against each other? I kinda doubt the game system has enough depth to really support this playstyle- as soon as your military power is too low compare to other AI players (which should eventually happen if you cosplay Santa Claus the whole game), they will declare war on you, more or less (alignment plays quite a role too). The (rare) moments when I got Alliance proposals coming from AI were when said AI was getting completely crushed by another AI player, and was close to lose. In this regard Planetfall has made some good progress, whether it's about other AI player interactions or Dwelling interactions, and we can hope Aow IV will continue this trend.īack to Aow III, yes most of the time it will eventually come down to military power and crushing your opponent. The diplomatic system in general in Aow III is not that bad, but when you dig a little bit it definitely lacks a bit of depth. Yeah you are quite right, it's actually quite hard to be able to form an Alliance with the AI.
